Vitamins are supplements that we sometimes need to make up for what we don't get in our foods. If you are taking vitamins specifically because you may be low on potassium or vitamin D, for example, then you may not see a change in your serum lab results for about two weeks. Usually if you are deficient in any particular vitamin then your doctor may also recommend incorporating certain foods into your diet to help speed up the progress.
