I am sorry to that you are having such a rough time. Prednisone and Imuran are good medications of choice to treat colitis because prednisone works quickly while Imuran takes longer to have an effect. Prednisone can cause an increased white blood count, put stress on the upper gastrointestinal tract which can lead to gastritis and ulcers. This could be the reason why you are unable to tolerate food other than baby food. It is important that you are prescribed an daily acid blocking medication. Has your physician done a CT scan of the abdomen? If so, is there any blockage of the small intestines? Blockage of the small intestines signals Crohn's disease. You may want to supplement your diet with a liquid nutritional product such as Ensure.
