Thanks for posting and I really must applaud you for abstaining from sex for 5 years and being very responsible.
If an unwanted pregnancy is the only reason why you don't want to have sex with your boyfriend then this isn't as big of a problem as you may think because there are many forms of contraceptives that are highly effective.
First there is the only one that will protect against pregnancy and against sexually transmitted diseases: the condom. It is very effective, no side effects, and can be purchased at any drug store.
Then there are oral contraceptives which are taken daily by mouth and these are only available with a prescription because your OB/GYN needs to determine if you have any risks of blood clots or other side effects.
The depo-provera shot is also administered by a health professional every 3 months and is a good option for someone who doesn't like taking pills, can't remember taking them, and wants to prevent pregnancy.
These are a few options-- you can combine any birth control option with the male condom just for added security.
