The most important thing, I feel in your article, is to celebrate the small victories.  We put on the weight over time and we expect it to come of right now.  It you loss even half a pound in the week it is a step forward.  You do not have to celebrate by going out and buying something, just dance around the room cheering!! Guess what, you will be exercising at the same time.
