Hi Anonymous,
If you feel as if you are not getting adequate medical services you should get a second opinion. Polycythemia vera can be treated as simple as removing viles of blood to thin out your blood. However, there may be complications based on the severity of your disease. According to the National Institute of Health:
Complications
Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML)
Bleeding from the stomach or other parts of the intestinal tract
Gout
Heart failure
Myelofibrosis
Thrombosis (blood clotting, which can cause a stroke, heart attack, or other body damage).
Do yourself a favor and get a second opinion. I hope this helps.
