Hello Elida Luna,

Molluscum contagiosum is a common skin disease that is caused by a virus. This virus easily spreads from person to person. People can get molluscum by sharing towels and clothing. Most people get about 10 to 20 bumps on their skin. If a person has a weakened immune system, many bumps often appear. Is this the case with your son?

Native Americans used echinacea to fight off infections and cold symptoms. It is now believed to be an excellent infection fighter and natural antibiotic. It is best known today for its use in building resistance to infection of the respiratory and digestive tracts. Echinacea contains polysaccharides that stimulate the immune system.

Check with your son's physician, confirm that he does not have an autoimmune disorder and ask if taking echinacea will be safe and effective.

The American Academy of Dermatology website offers information about the diagnosis, treatment options and prognosis of molluscum contagiosum.
