Hello Anonymous,

I would like to welcome you to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us to help figure out what might be going on.

The blood pregnancy test, which was done once your period was late by two weeks, is the most reliable test. A pregnancy test detects hCG levels. The hormone, hCG, is produced by the cells that form the placenta. Levels are first detected in blood about 11 days following conception and detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception. Generally, levels will double every 72 hours and peak in the first 8 to 11 weeks of pregnancy. If you were pregnant, then you would have detectable hCG levels by now.

Anonymous, I think high stress levels triggered by trying to conceive is responsible for the delay in the start of your period. High stress, especially during ovulation, can cause a period to be late. Some women can miss a period for one to two months because of excessive stress and anxiety.

Daily sexual intercourse is having a negative effect on your husband's sperm count, which is probably very low. I have a suggestion. Take a break. Try to relax. Your period should start. Afterwards, consider using an ovulation calendar. A woman is most fertile the five days before and on the day of ovulation. Consider having sexual intercourse on those days only.

Regards,

Maryann
