I came down with Pleva in my 30's during the 1980's and doctors first thought it was scabies on my stomach. It just got worse and spread all over my body and I looked like I had chicken pox for 2 yrs. I used to sleep in the bath tub at night because of the horrible itching and wore long sleeves in summer to hide the marks. I was prescribed the new acne medicine, Acutane and that is what saved me. My skin started peeling and the spots started to slowly go away. I have scars all over my body and still have flare ups on my face and neck area as I have aged. At the time it was not well known and did not have the Pleva name but had been in the books since the 1800's. Today I think more people are coming down with it. It was a miserable time in my life and I truly had blocked it out of my mind until I get asked about the scars on my arms which don't tan and are white in color. Life goes on and the symptoms do fade, so stay strong and know you will survive it. 60 yr old school teacher.
