Welcome to EmpowHER and thanks for your question. In most cases, HPV will not affect the unborn child. It is important to let your Obstetrician know of your HPV or if there is any wart present. In most cases, a pap smear is done to check for any abnormalities in the cervix tissue. Or the doctor may decide to do a colposcopy in which a lighted device is used to closely examine the cervix for abnormal tissue changes. Let your doctor know how you feel about having this done, am sure he can further explain to you how is the procedure done and of any risk to the baby.
