The discharge was brown because it was old blood or any uterine lining left from your recent period.

Side effects include the following and should only last a few days.
Nausea or vomiting.
Dizziness.
Fatigue.
Headache.
Breast tenderness.
Bleeding between periods or heavier menstrual bleeding.
Lower abdominal pain or cramps.
