Guide

Hello Anonymous,

I would like to welcome you to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us to help you with your health question.

Let me begin by asking you if you have had unprotected sex since your last period. If so, there is a possibility that you could be pregnant.

Implantation bleeding normally occurs a week to a few days before your period would normally start. Implantation bleeding is scanty and usually pink or brownish discharge.

Spotting can sometimes be the sign of an early period. If this is the case, the spotting will pick up to heavier bleeding.

During pregnancy, the cells that form the placenta produce the hormone, hCG. Levels of hCG can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception.

Anonymous, I suggest you wait and see if the vaginal flow changes to heavier bleeding. If not, you may want to repeat a home pregnancy test or schedule an appointment with your gynecologist.

Regards,
Maryann
