Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to us for advice.

From the information that you provided, I am assuming that you do not live in the United States. This is based on the TSH value, which does not fall in the range of how levels are reported in the U.S., and the medication "armour thyroid 1.5 grains".

But, my general impression is that you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism or an under active thyroid gland.

The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped located in the lower part of the neck. It produces, stores and secretes a group of hormones, which are called the thyroid hormones. Thyroid hormones are essential for the function of every cell in the body.

The two most important thyroid hormones are thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which is produced by the pituitary gland, acts to stimulate hormone production by the thyroid gland.

Anonymous, have you discussed the test results with your physician? Have you told your doctor that you are having the above mentioned symptoms?

My guess is the dosage of 1.5 grains of the synthetic thyroid hormone is not high enough. Please make speak to your doctor. Do not make any changes on your own. This could be very dangerous.

Regards,
Maryann
