Hi Anon,

Thank you for reaching out with you question! It's important to realize that anytime you have unprotected sex, your risk of pregnancy is higher. If you want to stay on the pill, it's better to take it at the same time every day rather than stopping taking it to control when you get your period. Doing this can cause irregularity in your period. The pill can be an effective form of birth control when taken correctly at the same time each day.

A woman is most fertile from days 10-16 of her menstrual cycle. Since you and your partner had unprotected sex, there is a higher risk for pregnancy. You can take a pregnancy test from the store to check though and relieve any fears.

If you plan on continuing to have unprotected sex, I recommend getting back on the pill and taking it regularly.

I hope this has helped! Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Erin
