Tubal ligation does not change the monthly menstrual cycle.
A woman's menstrual cycle is regulated by hormones, principally estrogen, follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and progesterone. The follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone are produced and secreted by the pituitary gland.
My suspicion is a problem involving fluctuation in the levels of one or more of these hormones.
Anonymous, consult your gynecologist regarding your prolonged menstrual cycle. Please keep us updated on what your physician identifies as the cause.
