Hi Anonymous and thanks for bringing your concern to the EmpowHER community.
Yes, there is a slight risk to you of pregnancy even though you have had a tubal ligation. This happens to about 5 out of every 1,000 women after one year. After a total of 10 years following tubal ligation, about 18 per 1,000 women will become pregnant.
Pregnancy may occur if the tubes grow back together or a new passage forms (recanalization) that allows an egg to be fertilized by sperm or if the surgery was not done correctly.
Sometimes an ectopic pregnancy will occur, which can be life-threatening. This occurs when an embryo implants somewhere other than the uterus, such as in one of the fallopian tubes.
Another possible reason for your delayed period could be the start of peri-menopause which can result in many changes to your cycle and the timing of your cycle.
I suggest you schedule an appointment with your gynecologist right away to get the answers you need.
