Hi Anonymous and thanks for bringing your concerns to EmpowHER.
Pregnancy tests check for the presence of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG) in your urine. After you conceive, your body begins to produce HCG. It takes about two weeks for there to be enough HCG for most pregnancy tests to detect it. Generally most testing is done 14 - 21 days after having unprotected sex.
If your last period was in September and you are pregnant a test taken now should be able to tell you if you are pregnant. You may want to take the test and schedule an appointment with your doctor no matter what the outcome as you will either be dealing with a pregnancy or issues with your period. Extreme pain is never normal and needs immediate attention. Let us know what you learn, we hope everything works out for you.
