Hello, and thank you for sharing your question with the community.  I am so sorry to hear that you have been experiencing this pain with no help form the doctors. I'd love to give you some answers.

Your symptoms point most dramatically to rheumatoid arthritis.  I am not giving a diagnosis, but this it the kind of arthritis that best fits your symptoms and gender.

Rheumatoid arthritis is more common is women than in men and although it is uncommon for someone your age to experience it, it is not impossible.  RA is usually seen in the smaller joints such as the elbows, knuckle, ankles etc, but it can also occur in the hips, spine, knees etc.  The causes or unknown but thought to be genetic, environmental, or hormonal dysfunction.

It can be treated with medications, rest and exercise, good diet, or sometimes surgery.  The treatments depend your medical history and the severity of the RA.

RA is tested for with several methods:

  • The location and symmetry of painful joints, especially the hand joints
  • Joint stiffness in the morning
  • Bumps and nodules under the skin (rheumatoid nodules)
  • Results of X-ray tests
  • Blood tests

If you go to the doctor and ask to be tested for RA specifically, I believe you will find more answers then you did before.

Good luck, and let us know if you have any more questions.

Faith
