Dear Anon,

Thank you for visiting the EmpowHER community and for sharing your question.

The greatest chance for pregnancy is during the second and third weeks of the menstrual cycle. While a normal cycle is considered anywhere between 21 and 35 days, the average is about 28 days.  Ovulation occurs mid month, this averages to day 14 every month give or take several days before and after.

It is possible to get pregnant before or after your fertile period as the tests aren't always accurate. The only way to know for sure is to take a pregnancy test a couple days before your period is due or after a missed period.

Mild pain on the lower left of your abdomen can be normal signs of your menstrual cycle. However, should the pains become sudden, sharp or intense you need to see your doctor right away.

If you start to experience nausea, vomiting, and difficulty passing urine or bloody urine or fever, call your doctor.

I hope this helps.

Best,

Kristin
