You should definitely see your doctor right away. Since the pain is persistent even after your period, there could be something else going on then hormonal changes.
In general breast pain is put into 3 categories: cyclical, non-cyclical and costochrondritis pain. Cyclical is related to your menstrual cycle and usually causing the breasts to feel swollen, tender, lumpy and/or painful. Non-cyclical refers to pain that is not related to the menstrual cycle but is localized in one area. Lastly costochrondritis pain does not actually originate in the breast but the chest and ribs.
Other causes of chest pain include wearing bras that are the wrong size, weight gain, oral contraceptive pills and tumors.
In order to start exploring what may be causing your pain is to have a mammogram done. If they don't see anything, there are other treats they can do as well.
If they don't find anything from the tests there are natural remedies that we can talk about that don't involve surgery or medication.
Let us know if you have any questions along the way.
