Can I remove my Nuvaring 24 hours after unprotected sex?

I have been on Nuvaring for about 4 years now. I have now decided I want to stop ASAP due to the very undesirable side effects people are experiencing and just feeling very bad myself. I had unprotected sex with my husband about 24 hours ago (my nuvaring has been in for about 2 weeks now). Can I remove the nuvaring today (early) and still be protected from pregnancy?
