You did not need to take an emergency contraceptive pill because you were having your period and you have been taking your birth control pills as directed. You were never at risk for becoming pregnant.
But, by doing so, you upset the normal hormonal balance that regulates your menstrual cycle. This can have an affect on your next period.
Please report this to your gynecologist and follow his or her recommendations.
