Birth control pills prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation. By taking a daily active pill, hormone levels remain constant and that is how ovulation is prevented.
When you miss an active pill, hormone levels drop. There is a risk that ovulation may be triggered. Making up for a missed dose is the right thing to do. Your risk for triggering ovulation increases if you go seven consecutive days without an active pill.
You could finish the active pills in the pack and see if you have bleeding while taking the placebo pills.
Taking into consideration, hCG levels are detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception and blood, about 11 days, and conception takes about six to 12 days following intercourse, you could test about four weeks from now.
