Brown colored discharge during menstrual flow is fairly common among women.
Discoloration is commonly a result of blood has becoming oxidized during or after menstrual cycle. When this is the reason for the discoloration of menstrual flow, there is no cause for alarm.
But in some cases brown discharge could be a signal for vaginal infections, hormonal dysfunctions, stress, or something more serious. The good news is that you protected yourself from STDs and pregnancy.
Make note of the details of your symptoms (color, odor, itching and/or burning) and notify your doctor if the symptoms don't go away within a couple of days.
