Some high blood pressure medications have been known to help slow down the progression of kidney disease, but I haven't heard of any causing kidney disease.
There has been a study regarding a popular cholesterol lowing medication called Statin, that if taken in high doses patients may be more likely to develop kidney problems.
Has your husband ever taken Statins? Your husband's doctor would be the best one to help you determine if the drug is the cause or not.
