Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community and thank you for reaching out to us for a possible cause of your symptoms.

For the benefit of all our readers, the Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes are an inherited group of disorders, which share common features including easy bruising, joint hypermobility or loose joints, kin that stretches easily , referred to as skin hyperelasticity or laxity, and weakness of tissues.

Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), hypermobility type is generally considered the least severe type of EDS, although significant complications, primarily musculoskeletal, can and do occur.

In an attempt to help you with an answer, I did some research. Typical symptoms include overly flexible joints and stretchy, fragile skin.

Overly flexible joints can result in joint dislocations and early-onset arthritis. Many individuals experience chronic limb and joint pain, although x rays of these joints appear normal. Osteoarthritis is a common occurrence in adults.

This may explain the pain.

Anonymous, I am very concerned, as I am certain you are, about the swelling in your hands, feet and legs.

Do you have any cardiac conditions? Are you taking any medications?

Is your physician aware of the swelling? If your doctor cannot see you until next week, please consider seeking medical attention at a walk-in urgent care clinic or the emergency room.

Regards,
Maryann
