The decrease in estrogen after menopause can cause a fishy smell in the vagina. Often doctors proscribe a topical estrogen vaginal cream which will eliminate the smell within a few weeks.
Also a fishy or foul odor can signify infection. So if you have not had a pap smear recently, it may be a good idea to get one to make sure you do not have an infection.
