Your thought provoking piece makes me think of individuals, both men and women, that I have known personally. I would not categories such individuals as unemotional, because I think all human beings feel a range of emotions.
Rather, I think how a person displays emotion is directly linked to how that person was raised. At a very early age, our parents or caregivers imprint upon us. If a child is raised by a very reserved parent, one who does not show emotion, than how can you expect that child to act any differently.
Life experiences can directly affect how a person shows emotion. If one's signs of affection were rejected, that person might withdraw and repress emotion as a means of self-preservation.
