Guide

Hello mitzee,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to our community with your concern about possibly being pregnant.

Postinor 2 prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation. It does nothing to an already released egg. So, if you take the pill after ovulation, it is useless.

Likewise, you should not have taken Postinor 2 because you took it eight days into your new menstrual cycle, which was too early for ovulation.

The take away is you were not a risk for becoming pregnant. Be aware that changes in the menstrual cycle are a side effect of the pill. Your next period could start earlier or later than normal. Flow might be lighter or heavier than normal.

Regards,
Maryann
