Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for reaching out to our community with your concern about a urinary tract infection.

Urinary tract infections typically occur when bacteria enter the urinary tract through the urethra and begin to multiply in the bladder.

Urinary tract infections are common in women, and many women experience more than one infection during their lifetimes. Risk factors specific to women for UTIs include a shorter urethra, being sexually active and having a new partner, use of diaphragms and use of spermicidal agents, and the decline in circulating estrogen associated with menopause.

Anonymous, are you currently taking an antibiotic for the UTI? You may want to wait until the infection clears before going back into the salt water pool.

Regards,
Maryann
