Guide

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER. I am glad you reached out to us for help.

If your period was due to start on March 15, and you had sex on March 16, then took an emergency contraceptive pill on March 18, it was too late in your menstrual cycle for the pill to prevent pregnancy. Also, ovulation had happened about two weeks earlier, so there was no risk of pregnancy and no need to take the pill.

However, changes in the menstrual cycle are a reported side effect. The next period could start earlier or later than expected. That may be why your period has not yet started.

If you do not have any bleeding within three weeks of taking the pill, test for pregnancy and speak with your physician.

Regards,
Maryann
