Hello Bab713,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us and I will do my best to offer you any help.

I can appreciate all that you are feeling and your concerns. I have not had a such an experience, but with my second pregnancy, the lab made an error on the date that the FSP blood test was done. This error indicated that the baby had Down's Syndrome. The obstetrician told me if I chose to abort, I had to made that decision soon. I chose not to. Realized the error. Today, my son is in the top of his class in a MD/PhD program.

Do you have a primary care physician, whom you trust?

Consider calling, reporting what has happened and ask to have a repeat urine culture done. If again, you test positive for E.coli and chlamydia, time to get the opinion of a second obstetrician.

Here is some general information regarding pregnant women and testing for chlamydia.

Women who have untreated chlamydia might develop pelvic inflammatory disease, which can cause ectopic pregnancies, chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Because of this, doctors recommend that some pregnant women should be screened for chlamydia.

Pregnant women who are infected with chlamydia have an increased risk of their waters breaking prematurely, causing the baby to be born early.

If a woman has chlamydia when giving birth, the baby might become infected during delivery. These babies can develop an eye infection (conjunctivitis) or pneumonia, and might need antibiotics.

The antibiotics used to treat chlamydia are safe in pregnancy and are used in pregnant women for many other types of infections.

Keep in touch,
Maryann
