This bump could have many causes. It could be a cyst or it could be due to arthritic swelling. It also sounds like it could be a bunion. A bunion is a bony bump that develops on the joint located at the base of your big toe. As your big toe pushes against your next toe, the joint of your big toe increases in size and protrudes. You will need to have this bump examined to know more.
