Guide

Hello. Thank you for your message.

In the US, many spiders aren't poisonous. Black widows and brown recluse spider bites are a threat, however.  Clean the site of the spider bite well with soap and water. Apply a cool compress to the bite location (using a cloth dampened with cold water or filled with ice).  Adults can take over-the-counter pain relievers and antihistamines to relieve minor signs and spider bite symptoms.

Seek medical attention for any severe spider bite signs and symptoms which can include swelling, redness spreading away from the bite, drainage from the bite, increase in pain, numbness/tingling or a discoloration around the bite that looks like a halo or bulls-eye.  *Always seek medical help for black widow and brown recluse bites.
