I agree that it is too little too late as well, although I think it is a step in the right direction. The message coming from the Prime Minister is that girls need to be valued as much as boys. Unfortunately, culturally, many parents consider girls a burden as young women when they marry need to have dowries, which some say strap the parents financially.
Twenty years is a very long time to let something so shameful go on, but without someone speaking up, it could go on for another 20.
