I agree, I hope none of us never needs another to 'complete' us, a la that line from Jerry McGuire..."you complete me." It's nice and romantic and all that but really, how dangerous is it to hand that kind of power over to another person?!
I am also married and am not one to tout my 'independence' all over the place but I am still a full human being, regardless of my marital status. I hope I'd still feel that way if I were not married.
And I agree with you about husbands admiring a woman who has her own job/friends/hobbies/activities that don't always include him. A clingy woman is scary to a man! (as is a clingy man to a woman). Everyone likes to be needed but we all need to remember that we're ok by ourselves too.
