I have a very convoluted question. I was diagnosed with PCOS in March of 2015 and placed on birth control. Without the birth control my periods are almost nonexistent and very sporadic. I take nortrel 1/35, which works beautifully for me. No breakthrough bleeding and my period is every 28 days. My boyfriend and I acted irresponsibly this past weekend and had sex with no condom, which is not usual. I usually make him wear a condom as well, even though I take my pill every day and I haven't missed one since March. I have done some research and found conflicting answers regarding my question. My boyfriend did not ejaculate within my vagina, but is it true that pre-ejaculate can contain semen? If yes, what is the probablity of pregnancy from it and should I be worried? Should I just wait until my next period and if I'm late take a test?

Mrs. Gromisch, I would like to apologize for seeming unappreciative and snobby earlier regarding the question that I had to ask. I am sure that you have years of experience being that you are a nurse and very knowledgeable. I think I just let my worrying get the best of me. Thank you for coming to us with your concern. There was no risk for conceiving and no need to test for pregnancy.
The generic name for Nortrel 1/35 is ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone. It is a combination drug that contains female hormones that prevent ovulation.
As you know, it is prescribed as an oral contraceptive and in your case, to keep your periods regular.
Because you have taken the pills consistently, you are protected against an unwanted pregnancy.
Pre- ejaculate fluid, itsefl, does not contain sperm. In occasions of a previous bur recent ejaculation, some sperm can remain in the urethra. Once, the male urinates, any "stow away" sperm is flushed out.

My next question is, if he did have sperm in the fluid, is it possible to get pregnant from it, if it is not full ejaculate?

Thank you so much. My biggest concern was because I mentioned this to a friend of mine, who happens to be a nurse. She told me she was taking her pill perfectly and she still became pregnant with her son.
