Hello, I'm 16 years old, and I am about 220 Pounds, For a full year, I was off of my Period, and I came on my Period once in one year. Finally in March, I went to the Doctor about it, and they put me on Triqular Birth Control. I had my Period, in April, May, Normally, for a bout a week, and it was like the third or fourth white pill, I came on. June month, I came on late, I was on on the 5th pill, but had a short period, for about four days instead of a week. This month, I haven't came on. & I am on the sixth white pill in the box. I told my doctor, she asked did I skip I pill, I never. I am thinking about it might be there, in April, and May month, I took them every night at like exactly 10pm. & June month, I took them around 10pm-1am, every night around that time. This month, I've took them around 10-12am, every night. Maybe that could be why? Anyways, I am wondering, if I were to have sex, would I get pregnant? Does this birth control cover from getting pregnant, and having not normal periods all the time, therefore I wouldn't know the same? Does this birth control cover from not getting pregnant? I wouldn't be able to tell really if I was pregnant or not, because my periods aren't always the exactly same, that's why I am on this birth control in the first place. But, I am wondering, Would I get pregnant? lol. So yeah. Would I get pregnant, even though I am on birth control? does this birth control, cover from not getting pregnant? Thanks. :) lol.

August 1, 2015 - 10:48amFirst of all, it is important to know that weight can greatly effect hormones. This is probably the reason why you body is not able to support a regular period even while taking the birth control pills.
Having an irregular period makes it difficult to become pregnant. The fact that you still are not having a regular period does not indicate that the birth control is not working. It only indicates that your body is still not hormonally balanced.
So the short answer is: yes. You are fully protected as long as you take the birth control correctly.
