Could I be pregnant?

Hi. I've been taking Trinessa lo birth control pills (28) for almost two whole packs. I am now on my third day of inactive pills and am expecting my breakthrough bleeding tomorrow morning like it was last month. Sadly, I don't think it's going to come. I've been taking my birth control pills everyday, at the same time. But my boyfriend and I have been doing risky behaviors lately without a condom: dry humping naked for a couple minutes in different positions, Rubbing genitals and attempting penetration. He has NEVER ejaculated during these acts. But I know pre ejaculate can cause conception as well. I'm 17 years old and I'm trying to be responsible (I haven't even had sex yet) I am having almost every early pregnancy symptom, even my veins on my breasts have become more vibrant which is freaking me out. Could I be pregnant?

Hello scaredgirl1234,

Welcome to the EmpowHER community. I am glad you reached out to us with your concern.

Just try to relax, because you are protected from an unwanted pregnancy. Taking a daily dose of oral contraceptive at the same time each day prevents pregnancy by preventing ovulation.

Without ovulation and without penetration and ejaculation, you are not a risk for conceiving.

Pre ejaculate fluid itself does not contain sperm. It is not semen. However, if a male has had a prior but recent ejaculation, some sperm can remain in his urethra. Once he urinates, any stowaway sperm is flushed out with the urine.

scaredgirl1234, if you do not start withdrawal bleeding before the end of the week of the inactive pills, contact your gynecologist. Pregnancy is not the concern, but rather a hormonal issue.

Keep in touch,
Maryann

Thank you for the very fast reply. Now speaking hypothetically, what if I wasn't on birth control? What would be the risk? Because I'm not sure if my boyfriend has peed everytime and I recall one point where he ejacualted and then we grinded naked for a few moments, once the ejaculate was cleaned up.

Hi scaredgirl1234,

There would be a slight risk if you were not on birth control. The risk factor is not so high for contact with pre ejaculate fluid, as with possible ejaculation of semen, even if only on your outer genitalia.

Regards,
Maryann
