Is it possible to be pregnant after a light period? Is backpain a definitive symptom of pregnancy?

Hi,
My husband and I have been trying to concieve for about a year and half. My period was delayed by a week(week5) and I got my periods on Aug 21. It usually lasts 5 days with moderate flow. Today is my 4 th day and there is minimal spotting. I had backpain, slight cramps and sensitive nipples around week 3. I never get back pain or cramps beyond day 2 of my period. I now have mild cramps and backpain with tailbone pain which is quite painful. I took a pregnancy test and came back negative on the 21st. Could I still be pregnant?

Hi Sweety22,

Thank you for sharing your question with the EmpowHER community!

Many women do experience back pain or cramps as a symptom of their period. Period symptoms can sometimes vary period to period as well. Sometimes spotting can occur from thing like stress, medication, travel, sickness, and more.

The only true way to figure out if you are pregnant is to take a pregnancy test. I would suggest taking one more to confirm with a second test.

I hope this helps! Please let us know how the second test goes and I would keep track of any other symptoms you experience.

Best,
Erin
