Oh okay, so even if its just a withdrawal bleeding or "fake period", is it also safe to have unprotected sex 5 days after withdrawal bleeding?

Hello Denise Lawrence
No, it's not safe. There is no true safe time to have unprotected sex. The rhythm method works for some people who have strict, never-changing cycles but in the case you are speaking about, it's not safe as you don't know when you will next ovulate due to the unpredictability of emergency contraception. If you don't want to get pregnant, use a condom.

Hello Apple567
Thank you for writing.
Withdrawal bleeding from taking emergency birth control comes from your uterus and causes any egg that was ready for ovulation to not conceive - so the bleeding means it worked. The second bleed should be considered a periods and your period after than should be along within a month or so. All this is generally speaking as each woman will have a different reaction.
July 25, 2017 - 1:02pmIf you still have concerns about pregnancy, a test will be accurate 14-21 days after sex.
Best,
Susan
