Hello, can I ask something. My partner and I had unprotected sex on Feb 5 which was either a day before or the actual day of ovulation according to my period tracker. my LMP was either January 18/19. 45 mins after the deed, I took 4 nordette pills and another 4 after 12 hours. what are my chances of getting pregnant? So far I've only experienced weakness and nausea on the day i took the 2nd dose and had mild abdominal cramps 2days ago but still no bleeding. Thank you

Hello Anonymous,
Welcome to EmpowHER. Thank you for seeking out help with your question.
Nordette is a combination oral contraceptive and is used as an emergency contraceptive. It works principally by preventing ovulation. It can cause changes in the cervical mucus which increase the difficulty of sperm entry into the uterus and the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation.

Anonymous, since you took the pills after ovulation occurred, you can hope that pregnancy was prevented by changes in your cervical mucus and endometrium.
Vaginal bleeding, either as your normal monthly period or breakthrough bleeding, will confirm that you did not become pregnant. If you have no bleeding within three weeks of taking the pills, take a home pregnancy test. For the most accurate result, test in the morning by using the first urine of the day.

Thank you for the reply Mary Ann! Are my chances of getting pregnant higher than my chances of not getting pregnant?

Hi Anonymous,
I hesitate to guess, but since preventing ovulation is the primary way the pill works, and you took it after ovulation probably happened, there might be a higher chance for having become pregnant than not.
But, there is a chance the pill caused the changes mentioned to prevent fertilization and implantation.
