what age does menopause start, what does this mean with period.

I been having a normal period until December & January ,it just been light medium usually I on my period 3&4 stop except this month its been a week and still on my period , what does @ mean .iam 44 yrs

Hi Anon,

Welcome to EmpowHER. A woman can start producing less estrogen and progesterone the hormones that regulate menstruation as she approaches her late 30's.  These changes come more pronounced in her 40's. You might need to see your doctor and explain the changes in your cycles.
