Elisabeth:
So leading up to the surgery I wasn’t too concerned about the procedure because I was so confident in Dr. Raiszadeh, and I had done all the research and talked to a patient. However, my husband was concerned, and I think he was most concerned about after the surgery, the fear of the unknown, what I would be able to do afterward, what I wouldn’t be able to do, and how he would need to help me.
But because Dr. Raiszadeh is so amazing, he really was able to calm his fears and it went very smoothly. I went in on a Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. and was out of surgery by, I think, it was like 11 o’clock. I was up, walking the next day with physical therapy, and I left the hospital the next afternoon.
Dr. Raiszadeh was so amazing. He was in surgery the day that I was discharged from the hospital, and then staff tried to contact him all day because I really wanted to go home. I was ready to go home, and he ended up calling me at the hospital later on, talking to me and deciding that I could go home, and it was just so amazing how personal he was.
He made sure that I was okay with going home, and I was stable and he sent me home. And it was right before Christmas time that I had my surgery, and he ended up calling me, I think it was Christmas Eve, to make sure that I was doing well, that my pain was under control, that everything was going well. He was just so personal, and it didn’t matter that it was Christmas Eve and that he was home with his family.
When I got that call from Dr. Raiszadeh on Christmas Eve, it really made me feel like he remembered me, that I wasn’t just another patient. He made me feel like he was concerned about my condition, he was concerned about my recovery, he was concerned about my pain control. And it really gave me just a sense of calm to know that he was concerned.
