Jeanette:
When I met with Dr. Kim he was actually very sure right away that he knew what my problem was and knew that I needed surgery. Of course as a patient, and all that I had been through, I wasn’t quite there yet, and he was so patient with me and so willing to go through the steps that I needed to go through and to go through the right chains and make sure that we are going to the exact source since I had had so many prior problems and so many prior surgeries.

So, he was just, I mean, he had great bedside manner which a lot of surgeons don’t. He was just kind and he made sure that I was so comfortable in his office. When I would come to see him I would have to be wheeled in in a wheelchair, but not even wheeled in; I couldn’t even sit comfortably in a wheelchair. I mean, I would be holding the arms, kind of on one side, so uncomfortable. They would get me into his office. They’d get me a bed to lay; I could only be on my left side. I couldn’t sit; I couldn’t stand, and I couldn’t lay on my back or right side.

So he actually only ever saw me laying down before my surgery, but he was just so comforting and he listened both to me and my husband and even my father, as a grown woman, but you know, my father and my husband are both coming in, and he would speak to them as much as he spoke to me to help explain things. I was so upset and emotional and nervous and I had been through so much, and he knew exactly how to make me feel better and make my family feel better and to kind of walk down this path together before deciding I should definitely do the surgery.

He wasn’t a doctor that just said, “Okay, I see your symptoms. You are in this horrible condition. Let’s operate.” He knew that that’s where I needed to get, but he took the right steps to make sure it was exactly what I needed.
