VIDEO: Dr. Braun - Ovarian Cancer Vaccine, Can You Describe This?

March 19, 2009 - 5:55pm 679 reads 0 comments

Dr. Braun describes the CTCA ovarian cancer vaccine.

Dr. Braun:
At Cancer Treatment Centers of America we have begun a trial in which we use a patient’s tumor to stimulate her own immune system. Ovarian cancer is the system in which we have begun to do this work because we realize that patients with ovarian cancer often have recurrent tumor that has survived previous chemotherapy on multiple occasions. By taking the tumor from the patient herself, by producing a vaccine which is custom-made for that individual patient, and by using some of the technological advances that we have uncovered in the past 10 years to make this tumor a much more potent stimulator of her immune system, we believe that we are going to be able to produce patient-by-patient, a very potent response against her ovarian cancer.
