VIDEO: Dr. Hudson - What Is Endometriosis?

December 2, 2008 - 2:09pm 284 reads 0 comments

Listen as Dr. Hudson explains what endometriosis is.

Dr. Hudson:
Yeah, and it’s good to kind of know the basics about endometriosis. The basics of endometriosis is what normally sluffs off during a period to the outside gets kind of backed up, they call it retrograde flow, it gets backed up into the fallopian tubes and out and then finds itself adhering to outside the uterus, or the fallopian tubes, or the ovaries, and some other even strange locations it can migrate.

And then in those locations if the immune system isn’t able to clear that, then adherence and proliferation and growth and then kind of basically this tissue sets up shop in these locations where endometrial tissue shouldn’t be, and then that causes the pain and can cause infertility as well.
