VIDEO: Dr. Ray - What Is Your Motivation For Treating Female Cancer Patients?

March 20, 2009 - 2:31pm 382 reads 0 comments

Dr. Ray shares his motivation for treating female cancer patients.

Dr. Ray:
I grew up in a household that was, maybe I could describe it as feminist, a real strong advocacy for women and women have played a major role in my life. My grandmother was just an unbelievably nurturing person and I had another grandmother die of cancer and watched what she went through and I’ve just, from earlier on in medical school I knew that I wanted to work with women and do what I could do to improve the quality of their life.

I felt that women have risen above what’s been a male dominated society for centuries and, in many cases have received what I consider substandard care and, I’ve just felt called to do what’s right and to do the best possible thing that could be given and to offer that, and I think I have been driven by the fact that no matter where I have practiced, my goal has been to deliver a level of care that you couldn’t get anywhere else. And, you know, that’s been something I have just always held as my own personal standard and when I came here and found out about the Mother Standard® it was like just a good marriage and just fit.
