Dr. Vashi:
I am Dr. Vashi, a gastroenterologist by profession, graduated from medical school in India and did more training here in Michigan at University of Michigan, did my fellowship in gastroenterologies. I have joined CTCA in 1992 and has been here since then. We’ve started an initial nutritional metabolic support program at Midwestern in 1994 and it has evolved into a nationwide program at all of our centers.
As we very well know cancer patients, malnutrition is a major problem with them. We find this patient coming to us in a very malnourished state. Metabolic support is basically just identifying nutritional needs of these patients and fulfilling those needs by providing appropriate nutritional intervention.
