There is a type of cancer that is, to all intents and purposes, the exact same thing as ovarian cancer that can arise from the lining of the abdominal cavity. This is called primary peritoneal carcinoma, and unfortunately, removing the ovaries doesn’t prevent the development of primary peritoneal carcinoma.
