Dr. Williams:
Ovarian cancer is first and foremost treated with aggressive surgery performed by someone who is trained in the treatment of gynecologic cancers. The surgery usually involves removing, both ovaries, the uterus, and the fallopian tubes, sampling the lymph nodes, and the chemotherapy these days will very often be given directly into the abdominal cavity itself, as well as given intravenously.
